Reflection

One of the greatest tenets of our faith is that the original manuscripts are inspired. This means they’re infallible, directly given from God through his people. Another way to say it is that Scripture is “carried along by the Holy Spirit” or “God-breathed”. Miraculously, the writers’ personalities and uniqueness still came through, but the driving force, the Truth that was to be revealed, all of this came from God and God alone.

Could this be one of the greatest examples of unselfishness and committed love? These men were not about developing their own agendas; they willingly allowed themselves to be used for another’s goal by the Holy Spirit. And we’re not talking about one small act of sacrifice. These men actually allowed the breath of God to push their pens.

Collect for the Day

Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty resurrection of your Son overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity. Amen.
