Reflection
After you’ve traveled in an emerging country, you’re no longer the same. You appreciate space and quiet and leisure. You’re grateful for uncrowded sidewalks, the independence of your car, spacious rooms, backyards and Western toilets! And you recognize the luxury of an unhurried and hot shower, your own comfortable bed and clean clothes.
As grateful as we may be for such comforts, we should be infinitely more thankful for the way God has welcomed us into His presence. When we consider how terrible our situation was before God rescued us, our response should be praise and awe. He gave us life! How can we help but praise him? How can we help but sing? How can we help but live a life of thankfulness? It’s the only perspective through which we should view the world. We see God’s incredible work in redeeming us when we deserved nothing but His anger. And for that reason alone we have a reason to be forever thankful!
Collect for the Day
Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty resurrection of your Son overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity. Amen.
