Reflection

Those who claim God as Father should live like his sons and daughters. This means obeying him and caring for each other. Too often, however, there is very little discernible difference between those inside God’s family and the rest of the world. They may look good on Sunday, professing to love God, and then live for themselves during the rest of the week. For example, instead of taking care of the poor, they take advantage of them through shady business deals. God warns these people that they won’t escape his wrath.

Collect for the Day

Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
