Reflection
Here’s one of the most serious questions you’ll ever have to answer. What is the purpose of your life? In other words, what were you put on this earth to do or accomplish? Consider the question for a moment before you answer. Some people may think in terms of career and say, “I was created to become a doctor and help sick people”. Still others may think in terms of family and say, “My purpose is to get married, have kids, and raise a good Christian family”.
Put simply, God made us to worship him. It seems like a fairly simple purpose, doesn’t it – one that shouldn’t be too hard to understand. So why is it so difficult for us to fulfill our purpose? Because many of us have convinced ourselves that we need other things in order to be truly happy. Throughout the centuries, people have tried everything under the sun to find fulfillment in their lives – sex, money, possessions, family, careers, fame, drugs, and so on. But the simple fact is that we find fulfillment only by worshiping our Creator.
Collect for the Day
Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
