Reflection

Believe it or not, Christians are wealthy beyond all measure. We tend to forget that everything we have comes from God’s generosity. Just as the Israelites were promised a land “flowing with milk and honey”, He has promised each of us all the time, energy, talent, money and possessions necessary to meet our spiritual and physical needs. And, by giving us free will, He has also made us rulers over a living, breathing kingdom – our very lives.

What you do with the abundance you have been given not only has eternal implications but will bring you great personal satisfaction each day. It’s one of God’s wonderful ironies that the more joy we can bring to others the happier and more satisfied we are with our own lives. Do yourself a favor and, in Christ’s name, do something nice for someone today – you’ll be amazed at how good you’ll feel.

Collect for the Day

Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
