Reflection

Have you ever planted seeds in little Styrofoam cups filled with potting soil? You stick them in dark, rich dirt and wait for the sprouts to push through. You watch the progress day by day until the plant is too large to fit in the little cup; then you transplant it into a bigger pot. If so, you know the wonder, the miracle of sowing seeds and reaping a harvest. You also know that certain things need to happen in order to get that harvest: seeds, planted properly; enough nutrients, water, sun and protection from pests; and patience as you wait for the plant to mature.

You see, God gives you the resources, the opportunities, everything you need to do good deeds. It’s your responsibility to plant them, care for them and harvest them. You cultivate the opportunities God gives you in order to produce more crops. So when you invest what God give you in His work, He’ll provide you even more opportunities to give in His name. God stands ready to start this growing process in you. So get ready for a great harvest.

Collect for the Day

Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
