Reflection

You’re sitting in your car, casually listening to the radio, when you hear a song you’ve never heard before. You listen intently because you like what you hear. Then it comes to you: it’s one of your favourite groups. You know because you recognize the guitar riffs, the lead singer’s voice and the style of the lyrics.

If you’re a fan of music you can become so familiar with an artist that you can recognize his or her work instantly, even though you may never have heard a particular piece before. That’s because all accomplished musicians have a “signature” – a style or trait that makes their craft stand out. In the same way we can recognize God’s work through His great miracles. In fact, He uses supernatural means to provide for our daily needs; meeting us where we are each day and giving us the strength and means to live lives of purpose and joy.

Collect for the Day

Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
