Reflection

Drive through neighbourhoods where many wealthy people live, and you’ll see spacious and meticulously manicured yards. The ornate and large houses often look like palaces. Many of the homes have backyard swimming pools, and the driveways have luxury cars parked in them. Judging from the appearance of things, you might assume that the people living in these communities were very successful. But is success just based on what a person has?

Earthly wealth disappears quickly, but eternal wealth lasts forever. Committed believers make right choices in being faithful to God although it may cost them just about everything. Determine to be a success in God’s eyes. He’s the only one who really counts.

Collect for the Day

Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord: give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life and serve you continually in righteousness and truth; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
