Reflection

Everybody loves to root for the underdog. There’s something exciting about seeing the “little guy” prevail in the face of overwhelming odds. The higher those odds are, the harder we cheer. Many in the entertainment industry have built thriving careers on the conviction that audiences will flock to films where the strong and powerful are vanquished by the least likely of heroes or heroines.

But here’s something you may not know: God also roots for underdogs. In fact, he does more than root for them. God protects the weak and needy of the world in countless ways. The primary instruments He uses are His Christian servants. In fact, caring for and protecting the less fortunate are natural extensions of a Christian’s relationship with God.

Collect for the Day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life: raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
