Reflection

Our God is an awesome God. He is glorious beyond words. Nothing in all the universe compares with Him. Yet God cares for his creatures. He is willing to look down from on high and locate his children in trouble. But not only that, He lifts the poor and He sets them among princes. What does all this mean? In a spiritual sense, God can lift us from the depths of sin. In a physical or material sense, God can also rescue those on the edge.

God wants to use you as His hands and feet to help pick up those who have fallen. The prayers you offer to God, the money you give to support a hungry child, the time you volunteer to serve in an inner-city mission; these are just a few of the ways God can use you to retrieve his precious creatures who have slipped or fallen. Praise the Lord for His greatness and love, Pray that every day both rich and poor will experience a fresh expression of God’s love and come to a saving knowledge of Christ. Ask God also to show you new ways you can be His hands and feet to those who need to be picked up.

Collect for the Day

Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty resurrection of your Son overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity. Amen.
