Reflection
“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.”
How often do we sit down and ponder how truly blessed we are? We have a God who loves us, died for us, and has given us the secrets to his kingdom. We have what the ancients longed for. We have the freedom to seek, find, and grow in the power of God’s Word.
Or do we live like we are not this incredibly blessed? I confess that often I don’t live and act as I should. I have to remind myself far too many times that I don’t want my heart to grow dull or my ears hard. I don’t want my eyes shut and my mind to miss God’s truth. It is a choice and because of God’s love for us we can succeed in knowing this great reality.
What blessings from the Lord do you take for granted? Do you know of areas in your walk that have become dull or lifeless? God wants you to have the freedom to choose His abundance and live in it.
Collect for the Day
Holy God, who called your bishop Francis de Sales to bring many to Christ through his devout life and to renew your Church with patience and understanding: grant that we may, by word and example, reflect your gentleness and love to all we meet; through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
