Reflection

To do rightly in the Lord’s eyes means to keep promises to Him and to others. There should be no easy promises made by Christians. In many places in the Old Testament we read that the people often did what was right in their own eyes. Christ is your example. Ask Him to help you keep promises to Him and to the people He has placed around you.

Lord, I pray you will forgive me for any promises I have made that I have yet to fulfill and that you will help me to guard my tongue whenever I am tempted to quickly and foolishly make a vow to you or to others.

Collect for the Day

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
