Reflection

God’s Word seems to keep hitting us over the head about our attitude toward money, doesn’t it? Notice the distinction that’s made in Scripture between hard work and playing around ... being a trustworthy worker and wanting to get rich quick ... being greedy as opposed to being a giver. If you have the attitude that the world owes you, that you are entitled to get whatever you want by whatever means you can, then the Bible says you will end up poorer than when you started – not only financially, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

If you have the attitude that the hard work of a wise and trustworthy person will bring great rewards from the hand of God, then you will surely prosper in all areas of your life. This is how God’s economy works. He promises abundant riches – not necessarily in the wallet but certainly in the heart – to those who live and work according to His will. Ask God to show you how you can give generously of your time and resources.

Collect for the Day

Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified: hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people, that in their vocation and ministry they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
