Reflection

Even in the darkest circumstances, God gives us hope. Like a lighthouse keeper who remains vigilant during a storm, God is always scanning the horizon for those who need His help. His attentive and eternal watch locates victims who are lost or adrift, unseen to everyone else. He also rescues them from their plight. We should be filled with wonder knowing that God cares for us so intimately.

Don’t forget, that you can be God’s eyes to see and help the poor, the weak, the needy. Scan the horizon for those who need rescue and ask God to give you greater vigilance to find the ones whom no one else notices. Ask God to give you the eyes to see those in need and the courage and compassion to respond.

Collect for the Day

Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding: pour into our hearts such love toward you that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
