Reflection
God is concerned with our physical well-being – even down to the food we eat. When we shovel a constant stream of junk food down our throats, we are mistreating our bodies. And because our bodies are creations of God, that’s a pretty serious offense. So while it’s certainly important for us to make sure that the poor and needy are nourished, it is also important for us to maintain a healthy diet for ourselves.
Self-control and unyielding faith are two of the lessons we can gain from the lives of believers in Scripture. If you adhere to these guiding principles then you will discover the peace and certainty that comes from obeying God’s rules for living.
Collect for the Day
O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you, mercifully accept our prayers and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do no good thing without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in the keeping of your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
