Reflection
How would you respond if your life was marked by one trouble, hardship and calamity after another? What would you do if you were beaten, put in jail, attacked by angry mobs, forced to go without sleep and food – all because of your faith in Christ? Would you quit living for Christ?
Don’t let tough circumstances or people’s expectations affect the way you live and believe. God is able and ready to give you all the strength you need to deal with life’s problems. Stand firm. Stand true. Refuse to compromise what you believe in and how you live. Then you, like the early Christians we find in Acts, can lead a victorious and faithful life.
Collect for the Day
Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing worth: send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you. Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
