Reflection
Justice is close to God’s heart. He cares deeply that all people are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their social standing. You can share God’s passion for justice by doing good, especially by standing up for people who are treated unfairly.
On your way to work or the grocery today, you probably stepped on grass, asphalt, litter and the floor mat of your car. As long as the way is safe, sturdy, and somewhat clean, we usually give little thought to what’s underfoot. In contrast, we feel the loss when we accidentally step on and break something of value. Yet nothing is more valuable than the world’s population – men and women all created in the image of God. Remember we are called to care for His precious creation and treat everyone with kindness and dignity. Pray for political and business leaders, especially Christians, to have the courage to do what they know is right when it comes to caring for the poor and oppressed in our culture.
Collect for the Day
Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
