Reflection

Many of us believe we are better than others simply because we have more of something: education, money, public acclaim, etc. Because of this, we often want to strike a deal with God. We’ll accept His comfort, wisdom and guidance as long as our lives don’t change too much; maybe not at all. But greatness comes from sacrifice – just look at the lives of the Apostles and the many Godly saints that have followed them throughout history. They gave their all to serve God. The lesson of their lives is don’t hold on to what is impossible to keep and lose that which is eternal. Spend some time praying for God to reveal anything you may be holding back. Ask for the strength to surrender everything.

Collect for the Day

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, that we may evermore be defended from all adversities; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
