Reflection

Prayers come in all shapes, sizes and varieties. Some, like public prayers in church, are well thought out and elegantly spoken. Others, like the Lord’s Prayer or “Now I lay me down to sleep”, are recited from memory. Still others are more urgent. In these prayers, people simply drop to their knees and cry, “Lord, help me”! It is important to remember that God hears and answers our prayers – often when don’t even realize it. As a result, we are never helpless, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem. Spend some time in prayer asking God to intervene in situations that seem to beyond human control.

Collect for the Day

God our Father, whose Son Jesus Christ gives the water of eternal life: may we thirst for you, the spring of life and source of goodness, through him who is alive and reigns, now and for ever. Amen.
