Reflection

Many of us believe we are better than others simply because we have more money, are more educated, or have a great job. Because of this, we often want to strike a deal with God. We’ll accept His comfort, wisdom and guidance as long as our lives don’t change too much; maybe not at all. But greatness comes from sacrifice – just look at the lives of the Apostles and the many Godly saints that have followed them throughout history. They gave their all to serve God. The lesson of their lives is don’t hold on to what is impossible to keep and lose that which is eternal. Spend some time praying for God to reveal anything you may be holding back. Ask for the strength to surrender everything.

Collect for the Day

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into the heavens, so we in heart and mind may also ascend and with him continually dwell; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
